Two high-schoolers get transported into a black-and-white 1950s sitcom called Pleasantville and bring about significant changes to the town, leading to a riot and eventually a positive transformation. Pleasantville is a 1998 American English-language Comedy Drama movie starring Tobey Maguire, Jeff Daniels, Joan Allen, William H. Macy, J. T. Walsh, Don Knotts and Jack Vale. Larger Than Life Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Gary Ross, Steven Soderbergh, Jon Kilik and Robert J. Degus. The motion picture is written and directed by Gary Ross. New Line Cinema acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Pleasantville was released on 15th April 1999 and takes a screen time of 124 minutes. Pleasantville was made on a budget of $60 million and at the box office it grossed only $49 million. Cinematography was done by John Lindley and editing by William Goldenberg. The music was composed by Randy Newman.
