A young woman saves Maxim de Winter from contemplating suicide, they eventually marry and move to his grand mansion where his deceased first wife is still remembered by the housekeeper who tries to manipulate the new Mrs. de Winter into taking her own life, but everything changes when Rebeccas body is discovered and Maxim confesses to killing her in self-defense.
