Richard Hannay witnesses a murder and becomes entangled in a web of espionage as he tries to uncover the secrets of The 39 Steps and prevent a dangerous plot involving spies and a silent aircraft engine. The 39 Steps is a 1935 English-language Mystery Thriller film starring Robert Donat, Madeleine Carroll, Lucie Mannheim, Godfrey Tearle, Peggy Ashcroft, John Laurie and Charles Hubert Renard. The movie is based on The Thirty-Nine Steps 1915 novel by John Buchan. Gaumont-British Picture Corporation was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Michael Balcon. The movie is directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Gaumont British Distributors acquired the distribution rights for the movie.
