The movie is inspired from Valdez Is Coming by Elmore Leonard. Valdez Is Coming was Produced by Ira Steiner. Valdez Is Coming is written by Roland Kibbee, David Rayfiel and Elmore Leonard and it is directed by Edwin Sherin. United Artists acquired the distribution rights for the film.
