A young man named David aspires to become a priest but falls in love with a church singer named Nivedita, forcing him to choose between his love and commitment to the church, while Nivedita has a complicated backstory involving a forced marriage, her lovers injury, and her return to her village to reconcile with her father and rekindle her relationship with her paralyzed lover Bharathi.
