A man who was raised among corpses and has a strong sense of loyalty is drawn into the world of marijuana dealing and criminal activity, but ultimately seeks revenge against those who have wronged him and his protector. Pithamagan is a 2003 Indian Tamil-language Action Drama motion picture featuring Vikram, Suriya Sivakumar, Laila Mehdin, Sangeetha Krish, Mahadevan, Aruna Guhan and Ramasamy. The movie is based on Nandhavanathil Oru Aandi by Jayakanthan. Evergreen Movie International was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) V. A. Durai. The film is written and directed by Bala Pazhanisaamy. Evergreen Movies International acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Pithamagan was released on 24th October 2003 and takes a screen time of 158 minutes. Pithamagan was made on a budget of $39 million and at the box office it grossed only $35 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Bala. Cinematography was done by Balasubrahmannyam and editing by Suresh Urs. The music was composed by National Award winner Ilaiyaraaja. At the 2004 South Filmfare Awards It won 6 awards including: Best Actor (Vikram), Best Actress (Laila Mehdin), Best Supporting Actor (Suriya Sivakumar), Best Supporting Actress (Sangeetha Krish), Best Director and Best Film. At the 2004 National Film Awards It also won an award for Best Actor (Vikram).
