A troubled high school student named Sean Boswell races against athlete Clay, resulting in a crash and Sean being sent to live in Japan where he befriends Twinkie and gets involved in drift racing, leading to a series of events including a race against the Drift King, Hans death, and ultimately winning to become the new Drift King only to be challenged by Dominic Toretto.
