A small peasant village s struggles against the careless inroads of the large local landowner, The Land shows why political oppression does not necessarily lead to a sense of solidarity among the disinherited. The Land is a 1970 English-language Drama film featuring Beau Bridges, Lee Grant, Diana Sands, Pearl Bailey, Mahmoud Al Meleji, Nagwa Ibrahim and Tawfik El Deken. The movie is inspired from The Landlord 1966 novel by Kristin Hunter. Mirisch Company in association with Cartier Productions. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Norman Jewison. The movie is directed by Hal Ashby. United Artists acquired the distribution rights for the movie. The Land was released on 26th January 1970 and takes a screen time of 113 minutes. The Land was made on a budget of $1 million and at the box office it grossed only $0 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Bill Gunn. Cinematography was done by Gordon Willis and editing by William A. Sawyer and Edward Warschilka. The music was composed by Al Kooper.
