In Chicagos Southside, a woman named Lysistrata takes drastic measures to end gang violence by organizing a sex strike, leading to a national crisis that eventually brings about a truce between the gangs and a deal to improve the community. Chi-Raq is a 2015 American English-language Comedy Crime motion picture starring Nick Cannon, Wesley Snipes, Teyonah Parris, Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett, John Cusack and Matthew J. Valadez. The movie is based on Lysistrata by Aristophanes. Chi-Raq was Produced by Spike Lee. Chi-Raq is written by Kevin Willmott and Spike Lee and it is directed by Spike Lee. Roadside Attractions acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Chi-Raq was released on 2nd December 2016 and takes a screen time of 127 minutes. Chi-Raq was made on a budget of $15 million and at the box office it grossed only $2 million. Cinematography was done by Matthew Libatique and editing by Ryan Denmark and Hye Mee Na. The music was composed by Terence Blanchard.
