A police constable involved with an organized crime syndicate in Kochi, has a change of heart after meeting a new SI who wants to eradicate organized crime and helps the wife and daughter of a man who dies under interrogation torture. Black is a 2004 Indian Malayalam-language Action Thriller motion picture featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Mammootty, Arun Lal, Rashin Rahman, Shriya Reddy and Besant Ravi. The movie is based on The Story of My Life by Helen Keller. Black was Produced by Paul Michael, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Anshuman Swami. Black is written by Ranjith Balakrishnan and directed by Ranjith Balakrishnan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Applause Entertainment acquired the distribution rights for the film. Black was released on 10th November 2004 and takes a screen time of 124 minutes. Black was made on a budget of ₹23 crore and it was a hit at box office gross of ₹23 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bhavani Iyer and Prakash Kapadia. Cinematography was done by Ravi K. Chandran and editing by Bela Sehgal. The music was composed by Alex Paul along with Monty Sharma and Mychael Danna.
