The story is set in Malaysia during the late 19th century and follows the English Queen Victorias control over Borneo, with Lord James Brooke overseeing the British forces, while Sandokan, an Indian prince who lost his kingdom, leads a group of pirates and falls into a trap when he travels to Borneo, ultimately facing the invasion of his base by Lord Brooke after a secret love affair with Lord Brookes daughter, Marianna.
