In 2001, the heavy metal band Metallica faces multiple challenges including a lawsuit against Napster, backlash from fans, the departure of their bassist, tensions among remaining members, the enlistment of a performance enhancement coach, conflicts over side projects, Hetfield entering rehab, uncertain future, but eventually they release a successful album and go on tour. Metallica: Some Kind of Monster is a 2014 American English-language Documentary television series starring James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo, Metallica, Echobrain and Orrie V. Metallica: Some Kind of Monster was Produced by Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky. The series is directed by Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky. IFC Films acquired the distribution rights for the show. Metallica: Some Kind of Monster has only one season and a cumulative total of 12 episodes which have a running time of 141 minutes each. The show made a box office gross of $2 million. Cinematography was done by Robert Richman and editing by Doug Abel and M. Watanabe Milmore. The music was composed by Metallica.
