The story follows Kate Ashby, a survivor of the Rwandan genocide, who is adopted by a lawyer named Eve and lives in London, where she works as an investigator for barrister Michael Ennis and becomes entangled in a life-altering case involving an African militia leader, forcing her to confront her painful past and strive for justice while dealing with the ongoing effects of her childhood trauma. Black Earth Rising is a 2018 American English-language Thriller show starring Bear Grylls, John Goodman, Michaela Coel, Noma Dumezweni, Lucian Msamati, Tyrone Huggins and Etienne Chicot. The series is directed by Ben Simms. Netflix acquired the distribution rights for the television series. Creators of the series include Robert Buchta, Bear Grylls and Delbert Shoopman. Black Earth Rising has only one season and a cumulative total of 8 episodes.
