Zubeidaa

Zubeidaa is a film about a man named Riyaz who goes on a journey to uncover the truth about his mother, Zubeidaa, who faced challenges in her life due to her acting career and tumultuous relationships, and eventually discovers the tragic events surrounding her death. Zubeidaa is a 2001 Hindi-language Biography Drama film starring Karisma Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, Lillete Dubey, Shakti Kapoor and Mayank. FKR Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Farouq Rattonsey. Zubeidaa is written by Khalid Mohamed and directed by Shyam Benegal. Yash Raj Films acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Zubeidaa was released on 19th January 2001 and takes a screen time of 153 minutes. Zubeidaa was made on a budget of ₹5 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹3 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Khalid Mohamed. Cinematography was done by Rajan Kothari and editing by Aseem Sinha. The music was composed by Ar Rahman along with A. R. Rahman. At the 2002 Filmfare Awards It won an award for Best Actress (Karisma Kapoor). At the 2001 National Film Awards It also won an award for Best Regional Film (Hindi).
