A woman named Mary returns home and becomes entangled in a love triangle while also foiling a murder plot and ultimately ending up with her former lover. Whistle Stop is a 1946 American English-language Crime Drama motion picture starring George Raft, Ava Gardner, Victor Mclaglen, Tom Conway, Jorja Curtright, Jane Nigh and Charles Wagenheim. The movie is based on Whistle Stop 1941 novel by Maritta M. Wolff. Nero Films was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Seymour Nebenzal. The movie is directed by L Onide Moguy. United Artists acquired the distribution rights for the film. Whistle Stop was released on 25th January 1946 and takes a screen time of 85 minutes. The screenplay for the movie was written by Philip Yordan. Cinematography was done by Russell Metty and editing by Gregg C. Tallas. The music was composed by Dimitri Tiomkin.

It seems a pity to have to criticise adversely any film coming front Hollywood which shows signs of trying to break away from the monotonous routine, but Whistle Stop misses practically all its marks. ( Read More )
