PolyGram Filmed Entertainment was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Leon Gast, David Sonenberg and Taylor Hackford. The movie is directed by Leon Gast. Gramercy Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the film. When We Were Kings was released on 14th February 1997 and takes a screen time of 89 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. The film made a box office gross of $2 million.
