The story of singer Tina Turner s rise to stardom and how she gained the courage to break free from her abusive husband, Ike Turner. Whats Love Got to Do with It is a 1993 American English-language Biography Drama movie starring Angela Bassett, Laurence Fishburne, Raéven Kelly, Virginia Capers, Dororthy Thorton, Demetrice Cheathon and John Emmet Tracy. The movie is inspired from I Tina by Tina Turner Kurt Loder. Touchstone Pictures was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Doug Chapin and Barry Krost. Whats Love Got to Do with It is written by Tina Turner, Kurt Loder and Kate Lanier and it is directed by Brian Gibson. Buena Vista Pictures Distribution acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Whats Love Got to Do with It was released on 25th June 1993 and takes a screen time of 118 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. Whats Love Got to Do with It was made on a budget of $15 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $39 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Kate Lanier.
