Shortly before an election, a spin-doctor and a Hollywood producer join efforts to fabricate a war in order to cover up a presidential sex scandal. The movie is based on American Hero by Larry Beinhart. Baltimore Pictures in association with TriBeCa Productions. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Barry Levinson, Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal. Wag the Dog is written by Larry Beinhart, Hilary Henkin and David Mamet and it is directed by Barry Levinson. New Line Cinema acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Wag the Dog was released on 9th January 1998 and takes a screen time of 97 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Wag the Dog was made on a budget of $15 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $64 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Hilary Henkin and David Mamet.
