A determined young girl in Riyadh dreams of owning a green bicycle, faces cultural restrictions, earns money on her own, gets into trouble at school, helps her mother with difficulties at work, deals with family conflicts, wins a Quran recital competition but has the prize donated against her wishes, and is ultimately surprised by her mother who buys her the desired bike. Wadjda is a 2012 Arabic-language Comedy Drama film starring Waad Mohammed, Reem Abdullah, Abdulrahman Al-juhani, Abdullrahman Al Gohani, Ahd, Sultan Al Assaf and Vincent Wager. Razor Film Produktion GmbH in association with Norddeutscher Rundfunk, Bayerischer Rundfunk, Rotana TV and Highlook Communications Group. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Gerhard Meixner and Roman Paul. The movie is written and directed by Haifaa Al-mansour. Sony Pictures Classics acquired the distribution rights for the film. Wadjda was released on 29th November 2012 and takes a screen time of 98 minutes. The film made a box office gross of $14 million. Cinematography was done by Lutz Reitemeier and editing by Andreas Wodraschke. The music was composed by Max Richter. At the 2012 Venice Film Festival It won an award for Best Film - Il cerchio non è rotondo Award.
