This movie is based on the life of a famous Bengali philosopher, academic educator, writer, translator, printer, publisher, entrepreneur, reformer, and philanthropist named Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. Vidyasagar is a 1950 Indian Bengali-language Biography Drama motion picture starring Amitabh Bachchan, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Amrita Singh, Gurudas Bannerjee, Tarakumar Bhaduri, Chhabi Biswas and Santosh Singha. Vidyasagar was Produced by Manmohan Desai. Vidyasagar is written by Salim Khan and K.k. Shukla and it is directed by Ketan Desai. M.K.D. Films Combine acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Vidyasagar was released on 1st January 1950 and takes a screen time of 174 mins. Cinematography was done by Peter Pereira and editing by Raju Kapadia and Mangal Mistry. The music was composed by Robin Chatterjee along with Anu Malik.
