Vanaprastham

The story revolves around Kunhikuttan, a talented Kathakali artist who faces struggles due to societal rejection, an unhappy marriage, an affair with a married woman who is more infatuated with his portrayal of a character than him personally, leading to the birth of their son, but ultimately being rejected by the woman and denied access to their child, which drives him to perform as demonic characters on stage and culminates in a climactic dance performance. Vanaprastham is a 1999 Malayalam-language Drama Musical movie starring Suhasini Maniratnam, Mohanlal Viswanathan, Mattanoor Shankara Marar, Kalamandalam Gopi, Venmani Haridas, Kukku Parameshwaram and Appukutty Poduval. Euro American Films in association with Pranavam Arts and CLT-UFA International. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Pierre Assouline and Mohanlal. Vanaprastham is written by Pierre Assouline, Shaji N. Karun and Raghunath Paleri and it is directed by Shaji N. Karun. SND Films acquired the distribution rights for the movie.
