This film tells the story of Dalton Trumbo, a prominent writer who faced persecution during the post-World War II era for his alleged communist ties, resulting in his banishment and imprisonment, but despite his hardships, he continued to write under aliases and eventually found partial redemption, becoming a symbol of freedom of expression. Trumbo is a 2008 American English-language Documentary Biography movie starring Dalton Trumbo, Joan Allen, Brian Dennehy, Michael Douglas, Paul Giamatti, Nathan Lane and Cleo Trumbo. Filbert Steps Productions in association with Reno Productions and Safehouse Pictures. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Will Battersby, Alan Klingenstein, Tory Tunnell and David Viola. Trumbo is written by Christopher Trumbo and directed by Peter Askin. IDP Distribution acquired the distribution rights for the movie.
