The film explores the lives of several people involved in the drug trade and shows the futility and complexity of the War on Drugs. Traffic is a 2000 American English-language Crime Drama movie featuring Michael Douglas, Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, Dennis Quaid, Catherine Zeta-jones, Luis Guzm N and Elaine Goren. The movie is inspired from Traffik by Simon Moore. Bedford Falls Productions in association with Laura Bickford Productions and Initial Entertainment Group. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Edward Zwick, Marshall Herskovitz and Laura Bickford. Traffic is written by Simon Moore and Stephen Gaghan and it is directed by Steven Soderbergh. USA Films acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Traffic was released on 5th January 2001 and takes a screen time of 147 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. Traffic was made on a budget of ₹9 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹3 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Stephen Gaghan. Cinematography was done by Peter Andrews and editing by Stephen Mirrione. The music was composed by Cliff Martinez. At the 2001 Oscar Awards It won 4 awards including: Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Benicio Del Toro), Best Director, Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published and Best Film Editing. At the 2001 Berlin International Film Festival It also won an award for Best Actor (Benicio Del Toro).
