The story follows Yusra and Sarah, two teenage Syrian refugees who save 18 people while escaping to Lesbos, depicting their challenges as refugees and Yusras inspiring journey as a swimmer in the Rio 2016 Olympics, while also revealing the arrest and serious charges faced by Sarah upon her return to Lesbos to help incoming refugees. The Swimmers is a 2022 English-language Biography Drama film starring Nathalie Issa, Manal Issa, Ahmed Malek, Matthias Schweigh Fer, Ali Suliman, Kinda Alloush and Christian Di Sciullo. Working Title Films was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan, Ali Jaafar and Tim Cole. The movie is directed by Sally El Hosaini. Netflix acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. The Swimmers was released on 23rd November 2022 and takes a screen time of 134 minutes. The motion picture made a box office gross of $2 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Sally El Hosaini and Jack Thorne. Cinematography was done by Christopher Ross and editing by Iain Kitching. The music was composed by Steven Price.
