The movie is based on The Nativity of Jesus an original idea by Tom Sherida. Columbia Pictures in association with Sony Pictures Animation, The Jim Henson Company, Franklin Entertainment, Walden Media and Affirm Films. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Jenni Magee Cook. The Star is written by Carlos Kotkin, Tommy Sheridan and Simon Moore and it is directed by Timothy Reckart. Sony Pictures Releasing acquired the distribution rights for the movie. The Star was released on 30th November 2017 and takes a screen time of 86 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. The Star was made on a budget of $20 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $84 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Carlos Kotkin. Editing was done by Pam Ziegenhagen.
