Andrew Lauren Productions in association with 21 Laps Entertainment and Global Produce. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Tom Mcnulty, Shawn Levy, Michelle Krumm and Andrew Lauren. The Spectacular Now is written by Scott Neustadter, Michael H. Weber and Tim Tharp and it is directed by James Ponsoldt. A24 acquired the distribution rights for the movie. The Spectacular Now was released on 13th September 2013 and takes a screen time of 95 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office.
