During the French Revolution, a secret group of English aristocrats called the Band of the Scarlet Pimpernel work to save others from execution by mobs, but when the French ambassador to Britain discovers the true identity of the Scarlet Pimpernel and threatens him and his wife, Percy outsmarts the ambassador and saves himself and his wife. The Scarlet Pimpernel is a 1934 English-language Adventure Drama film starring Leslie Howard, Merle Oberon, Raymond Massey, Nigel Bruce, Bramwell Fletcher, Anthony Bushell and Millicent Wolf. The movie is based on The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Emmuska Orczy and Montagu Barstow and The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy. London Films was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Alexander Korda. The Scarlet Pimpernel is written by Lajos B R, S. N. Behrman, Robert E. Sherwood, Arthur Wimperis, Baroness Emmuska Orczy and Alexander Korda and it is directed by Harold Young. United Artists acquired the distribution rights for the movie.
