An American professor is kidnapped in Pakistan, and a journalist suspects his colleagues involvement, but their lives are transformed after the September 11 attacks, ultimately leading to a tragic event and a realization of innocence. The Reluctant Fundamentalist is a 2013 American English-language Drama Thriller movie featuring Riz Ahmed, Kate Hudson, Liev Schreiber, Kiefer Sutherland, Om Puri, Shabana Azmi and R Madhavan. The movie is inspired from The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid. The Mirabai Films in association with Doha Film Institute and Cine Mosaic. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Lydia Dean Pilcher. The Reluctant Fundamentalist is written by Javed Akhtar, Ami Boghani, Mohsin Hamid and William Wheeler and it is directed by Mira Nair. IFC Films acquired the distribution rights for the movie. The Reluctant Fundamentalist was released on 1st August 2013 and takes a screen time of 130 minutes. The Reluctant Fundamentalist was made on a budget of $15 million and at the box office it grossed only $2 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by William Wheeler. Cinematography was done by Declan Quinn and editing by Shimit Amin. The music was composed by Michael Andrews.
