The Reader is a story about a teenage boy and his relationship with an older woman who is later convicted for her involvement in the Holocaust, leading to a complicated and emotional journey for both of them. The Reader is written by David Hare and Bernhard Schlink and it is directed by Stephen Daldry. The Weinstein Company acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. The Reader was released on 22nd January 2009 and takes a screen time of 124 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. The Reader was made on a budget of $32 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $108 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by David Hare. Cinematography was done by Chris Menges and Roger Deakins and editing by Claire Simpson. The music was composed by Nico Muhly. At the 2009 Oscar Awards It won an award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role (Kate Winslet).
