A former British Army officer, who was tortured as a prisoner of war at a Japanese labor camp during World War II, discovers that the man responsible for much of his treatment is still alive and sets out to confront him. The Railway Man is a 2014 English-language Biography Drama film featuring Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman, Jeremy Irvine, Stellan Skarsg Rd, Hiroyuki Sanada, Stellan SkarsgÄrd and Toshi Yoshino. The movie is based on The Railway Man by Eric Lomax. Archer Street Productions in association with Latitude Media, Pictures in Paradise, Silver Reel and Thai Occidental Productions. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Bill Curbishley, Andy Paterson and Chris Brown. The Railway Man is written by Frank Cottrell Boyce, Andy Paterson and Eric Lomax and it is directed by Jonathan Teplitzky. Lionsgate acquired the distribution rights for the film. The Railway Man was released on 13th March 2014 and takes a screen time of 116 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. The Railway Man was made on a budget of $18 million and it was a hit at box office gross of $24 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Frank Cottrell Boyce and Andy Paterson.
