A Polish-Jewish pianist survives the horrors of Nazi occupation in Warsaw during WWII with the help of a non-Jewish friend, eventually resuming his music career after the war. The Pianist is a 2002 Malayalam-language Biography Drama film starring Adrien Brody, Thomas Kretschmann, Frank Finlay, Maureen Lipman, Emilia Fox, Ed Stoppard and Malgorzata Trybalska. The movie is inspired from The Pianist by W adys aw Szpilman. Canal+ in association with Studio Babelsberg and Studio Canal+. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Roman Polanski, Robert Benmussa, Alain Sarde and Akshansh Nikhanj. The Pianist is written by Ronald Harwood and Wladyslaw Szpilman and it is directed by Roman Polanski. Focus Features acquired the distribution rights for the film. The Pianist was released on 17th September 2002 in English and German languages and takes a screen time of 150 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. The Pianist was made on a budget of $35 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $120 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Ronald Harwood. Cinematography was done by Pawe Edelman and editing by Herv de Luze. The music was composed by Wojciech Kilar. At the 2003 Oscar Awards It won 3 awards including: Best Actor in a Leading Role (Adrien Brody), Best Director and Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay.
