Mary receives a magical nutcracker doll that comes to life and takes her to a dollhouse in a world where the Rat King reigns oppressively, leading Mary and her brother to join forces with the nutcracker in a fight against the Rat King to restore freedom and happiness to the people. Grant, Julia Vysotskaya and Greg Brummel. The movie is inspired from The Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E. T. A. Hoffmann. HCC Media Group in association with Nutcracker Holdings, Russian Roulette Ltd. and Vnesheconombank. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Andrei Konchalovsky and Paul Lowin. The movie is directed by Andrei Konchalovsky. G2 Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. The Nutcracker: The Untold Story was released on 29th November 2010 in English and Hungarian languages and takes a screen time of 110 minutes. The Nutcracker: The Untold Story was made on a budget of $90 million and at the box office it grossed only $17 million.
