The Nutcracker

During Christmas Eve, a councilman brings Marie and her brother gifts, including a wooden nutcracker that Marie loves, but her brother breaks it, leading to Marie joining in a battle between gingerbread soldiers and mice with the nutcracker, who comes to life, defeats the Mouse King, transforms into a prince and takes Marie to a magical pine forest and a Land of Sweets ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy before leaving in a sleigh with the prince. The Nutcracker is a 1993 American English-language Family Fantasy movie featuring Darci Kistler, Damian Woetzel, Kyra Nichols, Bart Robinson Cook, Macaulay Culkin, Jessica Lynn Cohen and Katarzyna Tlalka. The movie is inspired from Peter Martins s stage production of The Nutcracker. Warner Bros. Family Entertainment in association with Elektra Entertainment and Regency Enterprises. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Robert Hurwitz and Robert A. Krasnow. The Nutcracker is written by Susan Cooper, Thomas Keneally and Steven Zaillian and it is directed by Emile Ardolino and Steven Spielberg. Warner Bros. acquired the distribution rights for the movie. The Nutcracker was released on 24th November 1993 and takes a screen time of 92 minutes. The Nutcracker was made on a budget of $19 million and at the box office it grossed only $2 million. Cinematography was done by Ralf D. Bode and editing by Girish Bhargava. The music was composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
