In 1895, an archaeologist and his family search for the tomb of Princess Ananka in Egypt, unintentionally resurrecting a vengeful mummy, leading to a series of murders and a final confrontation with the mummy in a swamp. The Mummy is a 1959 English-language Adventure Horror motion picture starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Yvonne Furneaux, Eddie Byrne, Felix Aylmer, Raymond Huntley and Roy Stewart. Hammer Film Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Michael Carreras. The movie is directed by Terence Fisher. Rank Film Distributors acquired the distribution rights for the film. The Mummy was released on 1st August 1959 and takes a screen time of 88 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. The Mummy was made on a budget of $125 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $409 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Jimmy Sangster. Cinematography was done by Jack Asher and editing by Alfred Cox and James Needs. The music was composed by Franz Reizenstein.
