In 1951, a group of high schoolers come of age in a bleak, isolated, atrophied West Texas town that is slowly dying, both culturally and economically. The Last Picture Show is a 1971 American English-language Drama movie featuring Timothy Bottoms, Jeff Bridges, Ellen Burstyn, Ben Johnson, Cloris Leachman, Cybill Shepherd and Peter Bogdanovich. The movie is inspired from The Last Picture Show 1966 novel by Larry McMurtry. BBS Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Stephen J. Friedman. The Last Picture Show is written by Larry Mcmurtry and Peter Bogdanovich and it is directed by Peter Bogdanovich. Columbia Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. The Last Picture Show was released on 22nd October 1971 and takes a screen time of 118 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. The Last Picture Show was made on a budget of $1 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $29 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Larry McMurtry and Peter Bogdanovich. Cinematography was done by Robert Surtees and editing by Donn Cambern At the 1972 Oscar Awards It won 2 awards including: Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Ben Johnson) and Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Cloris Leachman).
