A delusional aspiring stand-up comedian named Rupert Pupkin becomes obsessed with successful comedian Jerry Langford and hatches a kidnapping plan to demand a spot on Langfords show, resulting in his arrest and eventual popularity. The King of Comedy is a 1983 American English-language Comedy Crime motion picture starring Robert De Niro, Jerry Lewis, Sandra Bernhard, Diahnne Abbott, Ed Herlihy, Lou Brown and Mark Heenehan. Embassy International Pictures was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Arnon Milchan. The King of Comedy is written by Paul D. Zimmerman and directed by Martin Scorsese. 20th Century Fox acquired the distribution rights for the movie. The King of Comedy was released on 18th December 1982 and takes a screen time of 109 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. The King of Comedy was made on a budget of $19 million and at the box office it grossed only $0 million. Cinematography was done by Fred Schuler and editing by Thelma Schoonmaker. The music was composed by Robbie Robertson.
