Traveling to the exotic kingdom of Siam, English schoolteacher Anna Leonowens soon discovers that her most difficult challenge is the stubborn, imperious King himself. The King and I is a 1999 American English-language Animation Family film starring Miranda Richardson, Martin Vidnovic, Ian Richardson, Darrell Hammond, Christiane Noll, Allen D. Hong and Robert Mcevilly. The movie is based on Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon The King and I by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. The King and I was Produced by Peter Bakalian, Arthur Rankin, Jr. and James G. Robinson. The King and I is written by Oscar Hammerstein Ii, Arthur Rankin Jr., Peter Bakalian, Jacqueline Feather, David Seidler, Brian Nissen and Margaret Landon and it is directed by Richard Rich. Warner Bros. acquired the distribution rights for the film. The King and I was released on 19th March 1999 and takes a screen time of 89 minutes. The King and I was made on a budget of $25 million and at the box office it grossed only $11 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Peter Bakalian, Jacqueline Feather and David Seidler. Editing was done by Joe Campana and Paul Murphy. The music was composed by Richard Rodgers along with Oscar Hammerstein Ii and William Kidd.

From the crudely rendered backgrounds to the characters bland, generic faces to the inept efforts to emulate digital effects, its so patently substandard that Im astonished any major studio would release it, much less actively promote it.The songs, of course, are the films saving grace.
