In the aftermath of a deadly riot in Kozhikode, a dedicated police officer named Joseph Alex uncovers a conspiracy orchestrated by politicians and corrupt police officials, ultimately bringing them to justice and earning the admiration of the public. The King is a 1995 Indian Malayalam-language Action Thriller motion picture featuring Mammootty, Murali Pillai, Vani Viswanathan, Ganesh Kumar, Vijayaraghavan Pillai, Kollam Thulasi and Sonia. Best Films was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Manjalamkuzhi Ali. The King is written by Nithin Renji Panicker and Renji Panicker and it is directed by Shaji Kailas. MAK Productions acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. The King was released on 11th November 1995 and takes a screen time of 185 minutes. The film made a box office gross of ₹11 crore. Cinematography was done by Ravi K. Chandran and Dinesh Babu and editing by L. Bhoominathan. The music was composed by Rajamani.
