A teenager named Daniel befriends a cheerleader and seeks the help of their handyman, Mr. Miyagi, to learn karate in order to stand up to a group of bullies, eventually winning a karate tournament and gaining the respect of his adversaries and his proud mentor, Mr. Miyagi. The Karate Kid is a 1984 American English-language Action Drama motion picture featuring Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, Elisabeth Shue, William Zabka, Martin Kove, Randee Heller and Ann Oshita. Delphi II Productions in association with Jerry Weintraub Productions. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Jerry Weintraub. The Karate Kid is written by Robert Mark Kamen and directed by John G. Avildsen. Columbia Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. The Karate Kid was released on 31st July 1985 and takes a screen time of 127 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. The Karate Kid was made on a budget of $40 million and at the box office it grossed only $2 million. Cinematography was done by James Crabe and editing by John G. Avildsen, Walt Mulconery and Bud S. Smith. The music was composed by Bill Conti.
