An imprisoned IRA fighter is freed to help stop a brutal, mingly faceless assassin from completing his next job. The Jackal is a 1997 American English-language Action Crime motion picture starring Bruce Willis, Richard Gere, Sidney Poitier, Diane Venora, Mathilda May, J.k. Simmons and Pierre Gaudette. The movie is based on The Day of the Jackal by Kenneth Ross. Mutual Film Company in association with Alphaville Films. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) James Jacks, Sean Daniel, Michael Caton-jones and Kevin Jarre. The Jackal is written by Kenneth Ross and Chuck Pfarrer and it is directed by Michael Caton-jones. Universal Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. The Jackal was released on 4th December 1997 in English and Russian languages and takes a screen time of 124 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. The Jackal was made on a budget of $60 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $159 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Chuck Pfarrer. Cinematography was done by Karl Walter Lindenlaub and editing by Jim Clark. The music was composed by Carter Burwell.
