A British team is sent to cross occupied Greek territory and destroy the massive German gun emplacement that commands a key sea channel. The Guns of Navarone is a 1961 English-language Action Adventure film featuring Gregory Peck, David Niven, Anthony Quinn, Stanley Baker, Anthony Quayle, Irene Papas and Arthur Howell. The movie is inspired from The Guns of Navarone by Alistair MacLean. Highroad Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Carl Foreman. The Guns of Navarone is written by Alistair Maclean and Carl Foreman and it is directed by J. Lee Thompson. Columbia Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. The Guns of Navarone was released on 28th April 1961 and takes a screen time of 158 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. The Guns of Navarone was made on a budget of $6 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $28 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Carl Foreman. Cinematography was done by Oswald Morris and editing by Alan Osbiston. The music was composed by Dimitri Tiomkin. At the 1962 Oscar Awards It won an award for Best Effects, Special Effects.
