During America’s Civil War, Union spies steal engineer Johnnie Gray's beloved locomotive, 'The General'—with Johnnie's lady love aboard an attached boxcar—and he single-handedly must do all in his power to both get The General back and to rescue Annabelle. The General is a 1927 American French-language Action Adventure film featuring Buster Keaton and Marion Mack. The movie is based on The Great Locomotive Chase by William Pittenger. Buster Keaton Productions in association with Joseph M. Schenck Productions. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Buster Keaton and Joseph Schenck. The motion picture is written and directed by Buster Keaton and Clyde Bruckman. United Artists acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture.
