A couples wedding plans in San Francisco are disrupted by unexpected events, including a quick marriage between the sister of the bride and the best friend of the groom, leading to a move to Michigan where the groom becomes disillusioned with his career and the relationship deteriorates, but eventually they reconcile and marry. The Five-Year Engagement is a 2012 American English-language Comedy Romance film featuring Jason Segel, Emily Blunt, Rhys Ifans, Chris Pratt, Alison Brie, Lauren Weedman and Michael Veltman. Apatow Productions in association with Relativity Media. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Judd Apatow, Nicholas Stoller and Rodney Rothman. The Five-Year Engagement is written by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller and it is directed by Nicholas Stoller. Universal Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. The Five-Year Engagement was released on 27th April 2012 and takes a screen time of 124 minutes. The Five-Year Engagement was made on a budget of $30 million and at the box office it grossed only $24 million. Cinematography was done by Javier Aguirresarobe and editing by William Kerr and Peck Prior. The music was composed by Michael Andrews.
