A young girl from a rural village runs away to Madras to become a movie star, but faces rejection and becomes a sex symbol before losing everything due to her addictive behavior and ultimately taking her own life, exploring the morality of the entertainment industry and societal pressures faced by women. The Dirty Picture is a 2011 Indian Hindi-language Biography Comedy movie starring Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor, Rajesh Sharma, Neha Bam and Mahesh Raut. Balaji Motion Pictures was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. The Dirty Picture is written by Rajat Arora, Aditi Mediratta and Rajat Aroraa and it is directed by Milan Luthria. ALT Entertainment acquired the distribution rights for the film. The Dirty Picture was released on 2nd December 2011 and takes a screen time of 144 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. The Dirty Picture was made on a budget of ₹31 crore and it was a super hit at box office gross of ₹79 crore. Cinematography was done by Bobby Singh and editing by Akiv Ali. The music was composed by IIFA Award winner Shekhar Ravjiani along with Vishal Dadlani, Sandeep Shirodkar and Vishal Shekhar. At the 2012 IIFA Awards It won 3 awards including: Best Dialogue, Best Costume Design and Best Makeup. At the 2012 IIFA Awards It also won an award for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Vidya Balan). At the 2012 Filmfare Awards It also won an award for Best Scene.
