During WWII, a group of criminal prisoners transforms into skilled commandos under the training of Major John Reisman and successfully carries out a mission to assassinate German officers in France, facing obstacles from Colonel Breed, but ultimately only Reisman and two others survive and are honored for their sacrifice. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer acquired the distribution rights for the movie. The Dirty Dozen was released on 21st September 1967 in English,German and French languages and takes a screen time of 150 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. The Dirty Dozen was made on a budget of $5 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $45 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Nunnally Johnson and Lukas Heller. Cinematography was done by Edward Scaife and editing by Michael Luciano. The music was composed by Frank De Vol. At the 1968 Oscar Awards It won an award for Best Effects, Sound Effects.
