A descendant of a Jewish cobbler in New York discovers he has the ability to transform into anyone by wearing their shoes, leading him to initially use his power for personal gain until he realizes the importance of using it to bring happiness to his mother and gets involved in a plan to outsmart a slum lord, reuniting with his disguised father and reconnecting with his past.
