The Boys in the Band

An entertaining drama film The Boys in the Band is about a group of seven gay friends who reunite to celebrate one of their birthdays. When an uninvited surprise guest arrives to their party chaos ensues leaving them with unspoken feelings. The film stars Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer, Andrew Rannells, Charlie Carver, Robin de Jesús, Brian Hutchison, Michael Benjamin, Washington, and Tuc Watkins. Principal photography began in July 2019. The screenplay was written by Mart Crowley and Ned Martel and was directed by Joe Mantello. The film was produced by Ryan Murphy, David Stone, Ned Martel, and Alexis Martin Woodall for Ryan Murphy Productions and was distributed by Netflix. Adept cinematography by Bill Pope and clear cut editing by Adriaan van Zyl makes it a watchable movie. The film was released on Netflix on September 30, 2020, and occupies screentime of 121 minutes. An R certificate for the movie was provided by the MPAA. The film is based on the 1968 play of the same name by Mart Crowley.
