A beautician in America is mistakenly thought to be an academic teacher by a representative of an Eastern European dictator. She is invited to their country on that mistaken belief and is asked to be the tutor of the dictator's children. While there, she tries to Westernize the whole country. Written by Tony Berkoff The Beautician and the Beast is a 1997 American English-language Comedy Romance film featuring Fran Drescher, Timothy Dalton, Lisa Jakub, Ian Mcneice, Patrick Malahide, Michael Lerner and Sharice Zulo. High School Sweethearts in association with Paramount Pictures. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Todd Graff and Hawk Koch. The Beautician and the Beast is written by Todd Graff and directed by Ken Kwapis. Paramount Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. The Beautician and the Beast was released on 10th April 1997 and takes a screen time of 107 minutes. The Beautician and the Beast was made on a budget of $16 million and at the box office it grossed only $11 million. Cinematography was done by Peter Lyons Collister and editing by Jon Poll. The music was composed by Cliff Eidelman.
