An adventurous American named Richard stays at a boring hotel in Bangkok, where he meets a French couple and learns about a hidden beach on an uninhabited island from a man who later commits suicide, leaving Richard a map; Richard convinces the couple and some American surfers to join him, they discover a cannabis plantation, meet a secret community of travelers, tension arises as Françoise cheats on Étienne with Richard, Richard lies about the map and has sex with another community member named Sal, the surfers are killed by farmers leading to Richard, Françoise, and Étienne being captured, Sal is given a choice to kill Richard but the gun is empty, the community abandons Sal, and Richard receives a nostalgic photo from Françoise back in the US. The Beach is a 2000 English-language Adventure Drama motion picture starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Tilda Swinton, Virginie Ledoyen, Guillaume Canet, Robert Carlyle, Daniel York and Espérance Pham Thai Lan. The movie is inspired from The Beach by Alex Garland. The Beach was Produced by Andrew Macdonald. The Beach is written by John Hodge and Alex Garland and it is directed by Danny Boyle. 20th Century Fox acquired the distribution rights for the film. The Beach was released on 3rd February 2000 and takes a screen time of 119 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. The Beach was made on a budget of $50 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $144 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by John Hodge.
