A court poet named Ahmad is exiled to the Volga Bulgars where he joins a Norsemen caravan and becomes the thirteenth warrior in a mission to defeat an ancient evil, eventually losing their leader Buliwyf who is killed by the Wendol warlord. The 13th Warrior is a 1999 American English-language Action Adventure film starring Antonio Banderas, Diane Venora, Omar Sharif, Dennis Storhøi, Vladimir Kulich, Anders T. Andersen and Katheryn Winnick. The movie is inspired from Eaters of the Dead by Michael Crichton. Touchstone Pictures was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) John Mctiernan, Michael Crichton and Ned Dowd. The movie is directed by John Mctiernan. Buena Vista Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. The 13th Warrior was released on 13th August 1999 and takes a screen time of 103 minutes. The 13th Warrior was made on a budget of $160 million and at the box office it grossed only $30 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by William Wisher, Jr. and Warren Lewis. Cinematography was done by Peter Menzies Jr. and editing by John Wright. The music was composed by Jerry Goldsmith.
